How to know if you're a witch?
I recently wrote in a Facebook group sharing about my upcoming retreat Winter Witches.
Expectedly, I received a few troll comments, one of which from a man who mocking my immaturity for believing in fairy tales.
The truth is, I don't think there has been a moment from childhood to adulthood where I didn't believe in fairies.
And as for witches, I used to dress up as a fairy witch for Halloween every year. Practical magic was one of my all time favourite movies.
Only when I dressed up as the witch I wore my wort nose and painted my face green and cackled grotesquely, yet still, I was drawn to witches…why?
Since I became part of the world of self development I have learnt the true meaning of being a Witch.
Witches were simply women who:
🌿 Were connected to the wisdom of their bodies and felt comfortable occupying their skin, their size, their unique beauty
🌿 Who found peace and connection in nature, and used it as a way to process their emotions, gain deeper insights in their lives - like how you feel refreshed after a dip into the ocean or a long walk among ancient trees
🌿 Who is connected to her sexuality and knows erotic energy is a powerful force of life, not to be afraid of but to cultivate and enjoy throughout all life
🌿 Who has a deep connection to her intuition, trusted not in logic, facts and figures but in the unexplainable power of having an inner compass
🌿 Who is able to manifest their reality using the magic of intention, prayer, alignment and eros
And above all, a witch knows that their deepest ally is their sisterhood. The differences from one witch to another were celebrated, for your gifts complement mine and we all learn from one another.
All of that to say is, to be a witch was to be an empowered, body loving, sexuality celebrating, self healing, aligned woman.
And this is the anthesis of the patriarchy.
So much so that it was literally burned, shunned, shamed and silenced.
What parts of your inner witch have been cast out?
I believe that all women, female bodies are witches in some way.
And I believe that winter is a time when we have more spaciousness to turn into that inner magic.
